The Grocery Outlet first location was in Oshawa, Ontario back in 2008. By taking surplus or clearance stock from suppliers such as importers and manufacturers and selling in at heavily discounted prices to the public. This is a win-win as it helps reduce unnecessary food waste and helps shoppers save big on their favorite brands.
We are a different type of food outlet as we carry all sorts of bargains from frozen products, chilled and general merchandise. You never know what kind of bargains you will find as new stock arrives daily.

No, we do not accept manufacturer's coupons.
No, we only sell to the general public for household use. We reserve the right to limit quantites sold of any item at our discretion.
When clearance lines/products are not available we will purchase "regular" product at traditional prices for your shopping convenience.

We accept cash, Interac & Credit. A 2.4% fee will be rendered for all credit card purchases.
Many of our products are manufactured as first quality but due to minor imperfections they may not meet factory specifications. Change of packaging, discontinued or slightly damaged items ensure the deals are always great! Small imperfections mean BIG SAVINGS for you! We are so confident in our merchandise that we offer a 100% money back guarantee.
Like many other manufacturers, food manufacturers often have overstocks, product seconds and occasions when they need to “close out” or liquidate a product. The manufacturer may not be able to sell it to the intended retailer or restaurant, so they sell it to us at dramatically discounted prices! Often you can save 30-70% off regular suggested retail.
We will happily fill all reasonably-sized orders, but we reserve the right to refuse orders that are unreasonable in nature for a typical grocery store order.. Our store is not set up for such deliveries and we want to avoid disappointing our customers by depleting inventory on a single order. Our team will contact you to discuss altenative. If you process an order on the website that we're not prepared to deliver, our Customer Service team will contact you to discuss an acceptable alternative.
The standard delivery fee for picking, packing, and delivering all orders is $5.00. This fee is included in all shipping rates.

Orders
Due to the nature of our business, we are unable to add every product to our online shop. Reasons, could be we received limited quantities, items are not ideal for shipping or at our supplier's request. For all of these reasons, we always reccommend customers that live close enough to any of our 12 locations to shop in-store and shop often!
Please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order at media@thegroceryoutlet.ca and we will see how we can help.
An email notification including a tracking number will be sent when your order has been shipped.
Shipping
No, we are not offering pick-up at this time.
We ship anywhere across Canada. Shipping times and rates from Canada Post and UPS will be listed on the Checkout page.
Order values that meet or exceed $100.00 are eligible for flat rate $25.00 expedited shipping.
These parcels are sent via Canada Post Expedited Parcel. Large orders or orders to Remote areas are Subject to Additional Fees. You Will be contacted accordingly.
Shipping rates and times for order values less than $100.00 will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
Orders are shipped within 1-2 days after purchase. Orders placed on the weekend will not be picked until Monday as our courier pick-ups are Monday to Friday.
Shipping Perishable and Frozen Items
We recommend choosing expedited shipping for orders with refrigerated or frozen items. Orders are packed with 2-4 ice packs depending on the size of the box required. Slight thawing is likely to occur but items are fine to refreeze. For extra security, especially for orders shipping to remote areas, we recommend that you purchase an Insulated Shipping Box.
